Ashley Cohen and James Little Got Married
Their wedding was an opportunity to reflect on and immerse in the joy and happiness surrounding them and their new path together. You could not imagine a more perfect ceremony; it joined Jewish and Scottish/Canadian rituals, looking out over Mission Bay.
The rabbi, the cantor and the music choices were all just wonderful. I particularly loved the wedding party doing hip-hop dance moves down the grassy path leading to the huppah. Finally Ashley and her Dad, Steven, appeared. I broke into tears of joy, as I’m sure many others did as well.
As the sun settled down into a brilliant glow surrounding them and the rabbi, Ashley circled James seven times. The rabbi explained that is an old Hebrew ritual of the wife setting up the boundaries of the home and the marriage. Later we all belted seven amen’s, and they were married.
Katie, Daphne and Sam were with me. There is something akin to the joyful parent feeling that I was experiencing as Ashley consecrated her new life with James.
