THE BOOK OF JOY

THE BOOK OF JOY

I found an antidote to all the hate emanating from and around and about our President in the “Book of Joy”. These are interviews with the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu about engagement with the world in all of its difficulties and with ourselves living in it. They are two people who have been through the wringer of challenges throughout their lives and have a wonderful perspective on life. Part clearly comes from their religious training and perspective, but a huge part from their own resilience of mind and spirit in meeting the challenges of apartheid in South Africa and the occupation of the Tibetan homeland by the Chinese and the oppression of all who disagreed with these policies. I know many of us need guides and sustenance during the profoundly dispiriting and dehumanizing Trump era; these are two excellent ones.
