Covid Report from Los Angeles (12/1/20)

http://publichealth.lacounty.gov/media/coronavirus/data/index.htm

Our new cases are up to 7,600 in the last day. Our tests are way up to an average of 76,000 a day over the last week. Our positivity rates are now up to 7%. Our deaths are way up to 46 in the last day. And our hospitalizations are now up over 2,300 a day.

Our death rate is up by 108% in the last week; the poor neighborhoods are being hit the hardest. Hospitalization rates are up by 105%. We still have 24% of ICU bed capacity left, and we have 60% of ventilator capacity remaining. They expect we will run out of bed capacity by the middle of December unless the trends change.

Everyone that I see is wearing their mask, and I have seen no evidence of risky behavior. The Public Health Department has ended outdoor dining in restaurants, and all social gatherings (except with those living in your own household) are prohibited. Take out and deliveries are still available from local restaurants. There are exceptions for religious services and protests.

Be safe all. We have a few more months to go.
