The good news continues as hospitalizations, deaths and the positivity rate continue to decline. Our vaccinations continue to grow, and shots are now available on a walk in basis. We are in the yellow least restrictive tier in Los Angeles (10 million residents).
There were only 248 new cases of Covid on Sunday. Average daily deaths were down to three over the past week. The positivity rate was down to 0.7%. An average of 388 Covid patients were hospitalized.
Over 82% of seniors have had at least one shot and over 58% of persons 16 and over have had at least one shot. 41% of all LA residents 16 and above are fully vaccinated. The county is switching gears from mass vaccination sites to more targeted distribution to those who remain unvaccinated.
I notice that many are still wearing their masks out of doors; I don’t know whether these are the as yet unvaccinated or individuals simply showing an abundance of caution and consideration. There are many more people and cars on the street and many more people dining out of doors. We are returning to a more normal life, and it feels great. We could celebrate Mother’s Day with kids and grand kids and hugs without fear of disease.
