Covid 19 in Los Angeles
We had 3,045 new cases yesterday. Our positivity rate has increased from 0.5% in late May and early June to 5.4% yesterday. Hospitalizations increased from about 300 per day in the middle of June to 1071 by the end of July. Five new people died from Covid yesterday in LA.
Our vaccination rate for seniors is 88%; the vaccination rate for all over 16 is 71%. It varies by geography: in our neighborhood 81% are vaccinated as contrasted with Pearblossom and Llano at 28%. Vaccination rates vary by age; 92% of those 65-79 are vaccinated as compared to 59% of those 18-29. Vaccination rates vary widely by race: 77% of Asians are vaccinated as compared to 45% of African-Americans.
