LW Recos – City Council, Board of Supervisors and LAUSD School Board
Many of these offices make the crucial decisions on school quality, public services, housing development, transportation and all the myriad decisions that add up to quality of life.
City Council District 5: Katy Young Yaroslasky v. Sam Yebri

Recommendation: Katy Young Yaroslavsky She’s the next generation, clean, highly intelligent and creative leadership the LA City Council needs.
City Council District 11: Erin Darling v. Traci Park https://laist.com/news/politics/2022-election-california-general-los-angeles-city-council#dist11
Recommendation: Erin Darling. He’s committed to housing and services to the homeless. She has steadfastly opposed developing housing and services to the homeless in Venice and favors a far more law enforcement approach to homelessness.
LAUSD District 2: Maria Brenes v. Rocio Rivas https://laist.com/news/politics/2022-election-california-general-los-angeles-county-lausd-school-board
Recommendation: Maria Brenes She has the experience and background and courage and commitment to help turn around LAUSD’s decline in enrollment and the sharp drop-off in student performance.
LA County Sheriff: Robert Luna v. Alex Villanueva https://laist.com/news/politics/2022-election-california-general-los-angeles-county-sheriff-new
Recommendation: Luna. He is the far superior candidate; Villanueva has been on the wrong side of so many issues that it’s hard to keep track of his outrageous conduct during four years running the Sheriff’s office.
LA County Board of Supervisors: Bob Hertzberg v. Lindsay Horvath https://laist.com/news/politics/2022-election-california-general-los-angeles-county-supervisors
Recommendation: Horvath. This would be a close one for me. Bob has been in elected office for the past twenty five years; he is a centrist Democrat with a solid record of accomplishment in the legislature. She is a talented young progressive with a decade of experience in local government so I slightly prefer Lindsay Horvath to bring in some new blood and fresh perspectives to the Board.
