He was a bugler in the 4th Ohio Calvary, enlisted at age 15 and captured at the Battle of Chickamauga. He gave his life to support the Union. He was our great, great uncle. His crossed swords, pistols, and spurs hung in a place of honor in my grandparents’ home. His namesakes continue his memory to this day.
