Cassidy Hutchinson was a top staffer to Mark Meadows, Chief of Staff at the White House. She is a young but experienced, highly effective and loyal Republican who has worked for some of the most conservative GOP members, such as Steve Scalise and Mark Meadows.
She described the inner workings of the White House in the lead up and during the events of January 6 and the insurrection at the Capitol. From her testimony, it was clear that Trump and Meadows were prime actors involved in setting the stage for the insurrection, and they were aware of the weapons being brought to the Capitol, the plans to take over the Capitol and other government buildings, and the high potential for violence on January 6. Trump tried on January 6 to go to the Capitol but was thwarted by the Secret Service who refused to drive him there because of the high potential for violence from his supporters who were besieging the US Capitol.
