Happy Labor Day -- Celebrate Workers

Happy Labor Day

Celebrate Workers

It’s a day to remember all the essential workers who worked on site throughout the pandemic. It’s a day to remember those health care workers who worked incredible hours in hazardous conditions to save as many lives as they could. It’s a day to celebrate those teachers who did their very best to educate kids throughout the pandemic. It’s a day to remember the farmworkers laboring in incredible heat to grow the nation’s food. It’s a day to remember coal workers and others in sunset industries who are losing their jobs and livelihoods as we make the transitions from fossil fuels to save our planet. It’s a day to remember workers from Amazon and Starbucks struggling uphill to unionize against unfair working conditions and unjust wage scales. It’s a day to commemorate all who have gone before in the efforts to develop unions, fight for fair pay and safe working conditions. It’s a day to appreciate the working mothers who somehow balance raising their kids and the demands of their jobs. It’s a day to recognize the immense contributions of immigrant workers to the nation’s prosperity. And a day to be thankful for the Affordable Care Act’s health coverage for working families, for child care providers, for home health care workers, for gig workers and the flex workforce.
