Latest Studies on Covid 19 in Los Angeles
The latest LA County Covid 19 random sample blood testing suggests that about 4% of the county’s population has been infected with the virus. https://news.usc.edu/168987/antibody-testing-results-covid-19-infections-los-angeles-county/ This is 30 to 50 times as high as the county’s numbers of confirmed cases. It means that the virus is quite lethal but at a much lower rate than earlier projected. It means that a lot more people have been infected and carrying around the virus – about 1 in 25 Los Angelenos. They may well have been asymptomatic or had only mild symptoms.
New reported deaths in LA today fell sharply to 17; our county now represents 60% of the Covid 19 deaths in California. We in LA have one of the highest infection rates and highest death rates in the state of California; however California has one of the lowest infection rates and lowest death rates in the nation. https://www.latimes.com/projects/california-coronavirus-cases-tracking-outbreak/
